REPORTS TO:  Chief Finance Officer
LOCATION: Head Office

This role is responsible for coordinating the credit control function for the organization in order to realize all written premiums in advance of cover or within the agreed credit period.
Responsibilities
  • Collecting outstanding premiums from agents, brokers and direct clients in line with the target of maximum 45 days for brokers and corporate accounts and in advance for all othersReconciling/reviewing broker and client’s debtor accounts on a monthly basis by applying the 80-20 rule and exchange the details with the counter parties
  • Ensure timely allocation of receipts with a maximum of 5 days of unallocated at any day
  • Managing intermediary accounts by ensuring proper records are maintained, agents’ commissions paid within 10 days of the following month and timely communication and release of debtor statements latest by 5th
  • Updating, validating and presenting credit control reports to credit control committee, management meetings and to auditors
  • Review the debtors ageing reports and taking appropriate action per credit control policy
  • Prepare a detailed (per intermediary) bad debts movement schedule reconciling the balances b/f, charges for the period, any write offs and balances at the end of the period
  • Managing any intermediary loans and charging the interests, recoveries, taxes etc and maintaining accurate loan balances at all times
  • Computing, filing and requisitioning for monthly taxes (WHT,PAYE for DSF) at least 3 days before the due dates
  • Managing Unit managers’ monthly retainers which involves computation and disbursements
  • Facilitating intermediary’s annual IRA licenses and follow up ensuring only the licensed intermediaries are traded with
  • Providing confirmation details of receipting clients details for any electronic funds transfers and insurance premium finance remittances
  • Drafting annual collection budget and forecasting for premium collection/controls
  • Supervise the staff, reviewing their performances regularly and build a strong teamwork, manage staff leave and periodically appraise the them
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Administration or an equivalent
Professional Qualifications
  • CPA (K) is a must
Experience
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in credit control
